Unclaimed Dividends
Dividends that were declared but never reached you — usually because a bank account closed, or an address changed and nobody updated the register.
In short
A declared dividend that is never collected does not disappear immediately. It sits with the company for a period before being moved to the government fund, and during that window it can be claimed directly.
The usual cause is mundane: a closed bank account, a changed address, or a warrant posted to somewhere the shareholder no longer lived. We find out which payments are outstanding, correct the details that caused the failure, and claim what is still recoverable.
Does this describe you?
If one of these sounds familiar, this is the right page.
-
Dividend warrants that were never banked Sometimes still in a drawer, long expired.
-
Payments stopped after you moved house The register still holds the old address.
-
A bank account was closed and never updated Electronic credits fail silently.
-
You hold shares but have never received a dividend Worth checking whether any were declared at all.
What we do
Our side of the work, in the order it happens. You are not asked to chase any of it.
- We check the dividend history against the holding Establishing what was declared and what was actually paid.
- We identify what remains outstanding And whether it is still with the company or has already moved to the fund.
- We correct the details that caused the failure Bank mandate, address and contact details on the register.
- We claim what is recoverable Through whichever route applies to each payment.
What you may need
Indicative, not a checklist to complete before contacting us. Missing paperwork is normal and is part of what we sort out.
- Folio number or demat details
- PAN and identity proof
- Cancelled cheque or bank details — For the account that should receive payment.
- Expired dividend warrants — If you still have them — helpful, not essential.
Where this usually gets stuck
Knowing these in advance is most of the reason cases move faster with help.
- Older unpaid dividends may already have moved to the government fund, which changes the route. Both are claimable; they are simply claimed differently, and it is worth knowing which before starting.
Questions people ask
Can I still claim a dividend from years ago?
Usually yes, though older payments may have moved to the IEPF, which is a different process rather than a dead end.
The warrant has expired. Does that matter?
An expired warrant is a stale cheque, not a lost entitlement. The payment can be reissued.
