Dividends were declared but I never received them. Can I still get them?
The short answer
Usually yes. A declared dividend that is never collected stays with the company for a period, and during that window it can be claimed directly. After long enough unclaimed, it moves to the government fund — which is still claimable, through a different process.
The cause is almost always mundane: a closed bank account, an address the company no longer had, or a warrant posted somewhere you had left. Fixing the cause is part of claiming what is outstanding.
