Unclaimed Mutual Fund Units
Folios that were opened and then forgotten, or that the family only discovered later.
In short
Mutual fund units do not lapse. A folio that has had no activity for years still holds whatever units were bought, and their value moves with the market in the meantime.
The practical problem is usually locating the folio and bringing the records up to date — contact details, bank mandate and KYC are frequently out of date on a dormant folio. We trace the holding through the fund house and its registrar and handle the paperwork required to make it accessible again.
Does this describe you?
If one of these sounds familiar, this is the right page.
-
An old folio nobody has looked at in years
-
Statements that stopped arriving
-
Investments found after a death in the family
-
A folio under an old address or closed bank account
What we do
Our side of the work, in the order it happens. You are not asked to chase any of it.
- We trace the folio Through the fund house and its registrar.
- We confirm what is held, and in whose name
- We prepare the paperwork the case requires Redemption or transmission, depending on the situation.
- We handle the follow-up through to completion
What you may need
Indicative, not a checklist to complete before contacting us. Missing paperwork is normal and is part of what we sort out.
- Folio number or account statement — If available.
- PAN and identity proof
- Bank account details
- Death certificate and proof of entitlement — Where claiming as an heir.
Where this usually gets stuck
Knowing these in advance is most of the reason cases move faster with help.
- Dormant folios almost always have out-of-date KYC details. Bringing those current is usually the first real step, and skipping it is why a redemption request comes back unprocessed.
Questions people ask
Do units expire if left untouched?
No. They remain held in the folio and their value continues to move with the market.
We only have an old statement.
That is generally enough to trace the folio.
