The company I held shares in was delisted. Are the shares worthless?
The short answer
Delisting removes a company's shares from trading on an exchange. It does not cancel the shares, and it does not remove your name from the register.
What it changes is what you can do with the holding, and that depends on why the delisting happened. A company taken over, one that exited the exchange voluntarily, and one suspended for non-compliance all leave shareholders in different positions. Establishing which applies is the first thing to check, because the answer determines whether there is anything to recover.
