Lost or Untraced Investments
You suspect something exists but have nothing concrete — an old company name, a vague memory, a reference in a relative’s papers.
In short
Not every case starts with a certificate. Often it starts with a suspicion: a company mentioned once, an entry in an old diary, or the sense that a relative invested but never said where.
That is enough to begin. We work from whatever exists, follow the company through whatever renamings and mergers it went through, and check the name variations under which a holding may have been recorded. Sometimes we find nothing, and we say so plainly rather than keeping a case open.
Does this describe you?
If one of these sounds familiar, this is the right page.
-
A company name and nothing else
-
References found while clearing a house Old letters, diaries, bank entries.
-
You searched yourself and found nothing A name search returning nothing is not proof there is nothing there.
-
A relative mentioned investments before they died
What we do
Our side of the work, in the order it happens. You are not asked to chase any of it.
- We work from whatever you have However little that is.
- We follow the company through its history Name changes, mergers and demergers all break a simple search.
- We check the likely name variations Initials, expansions, transliterations and maiden names are all common reasons a record does not surface.
- We tell you what we find Including when the answer is that there is nothing.
What you may need
Indicative, not a checklist to complete before contacting us. Missing paperwork is normal and is part of what we sort out.
- Any name the investment might be under — Including former and maiden names.
- Approximate period — Even a decade narrows the search.
- Any company name you can recall
Where this usually gets stuck
Knowing these in advance is most of the reason cases move faster with help.
- A self-service search returning no results is weak evidence. Records are matched on exact name strings, and a small difference in how a name was recorded is enough to hide a holding completely.
Questions people ask
I only have a company name. Is that enough?
Often, yes — combined with a person's name it is usually enough to start.
What if you find nothing?
We tell you. A clear negative is a useful answer, and we would rather give you one than keep a case open indefinitely.

- We work out whether this is the right route before anything else.
- You will get the route, what it needs and what it costs before you decide anything.
- We never ask for payment to run a check.
You don’t have to work this out alone.
